EJC SUMMER TRAINING CAMP 2010

From Monday 26th to Friday 30th July Ealing Judo Club hosted a Summer Training Camp for white, red and yellow belts. We enjoyed coaching from Lee Shinkin, British International, as well as games, judo education and a friendly training competition. We are hoping to run another camp like it later in the year, so keep your eyes peeled.

LYAM EARNS 2nd DAN

Lyam Quin has become our first member to earn his second Dan. At the Kent International tournament on 27th June 2010 Lyam won the final ten points needed to complete the grade requirements, his theory section was completed some months before. Very well done to Lyam who has worked hard to maintain and improve his skills base.

FUNDRAISING on HAVEN GREEN

On Saturday 24th July from 11:30am to 2pm Ealing Judo Club performed a fun-packed judo display on Haven Green in Ealing. We included a public open 'come and try' session and a sponsored throwing event, both of which were successful. We are hoping this event will kickstart our efforts to raise much needed funds towards a new club vehicle to transport our players to training camps and competitions. We will also be donating a portion of the money reaised to the West London Sports Trust - they are a fantastic organisation donationg money to young athletes who are struggling to fund their sporting careers.

From bucket-shaking on the day we managed to raise £152.23. The sponsor money is still coming in.

EJC COACH AT SENIOR EUROPEAN CUP - May 2010

Our coach Jo with one of her senior students, Ashley McKenzie. On Saturday 15th May Jo accompanied Ashley to the British Senior Open, a European Cup event, where he won the title for the 3rd successive year. The Willesden fighter put in a great performance.

EJC SENIORS MEET INOUE - January 2010

In January John and Martin went along to Danny DaCosta's Shinjido seminar at High Wycombe and spent some time being coached by the great Olympic and World Champion Kosei Inoue of Japan. They had a very productive day.

END OF YEAR MEDAL TABLE - December 2009

A massive well done to everyone who has competed this year. Anyone who ever has knows how brave a person has to be to step on to that mat and the members of our little club are some of the bravest I know. Keep up the good work and see you next year!!

OUR 2009 FUNDRAISER - The Bank Holiday Bring & Buy Sale

Above: Eliot, Jack, Daniel & Jamie looking after the toy table... typical.

We had a good moring, making £136 to put into the club kitty. The turn out was a little disappointing but those who came all lent a hand to make it successful. We have plenty of gear left, ready for our next sale - keep your eyes peeled for details.

EJC SUMMER TRAINING CAMP, 10th - 14th August 2009

We had a fantastic week, with white to yellow belts all learning and training together. The 4 hours training a day was enjoyable, challenging and educational, including an aikido demonstration and quizzes. At the end of the week we ran a BBQ lunch and a training competition, which Pinewood and Willesden Judo Clubs came along to. Keep an eye out for next year's camp details.

JULY 2009 - NATIONAL TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

Above: Harkirat, Megan & Lucy with their well earned silver medals.

At this year's National Team Championships Ealing Judo Club won a massive 6 medals from some of our youngest future stars. Laurence, Eliot & Rohan took golds, while Harkirat, Megan & Lucy came away wih great silvers. Their little haul adds to the club's National medal tally to give us a current total of 31 National medals from 16 fighters. Well done to the EJC warriors.

MARCH 2009 - TONBRIDGE TRAINING CAMP

We had a ball this weekend, visiting Tonbridge Judo Club in Kent for a training weekend. We were looked after so well by the host club, fed like kings. There was outdoor training and of course lots of judo, includiing high quality randori. We hope to repeat this experience in the near future.

The event came about after the Head coaches at Ealing and Tonbridge realised, horror of horrors, that we had a free weekend...

OCTOBER 2008 - 5th ANNIVERSARY LUNCH

Despite our actual anniversary being back in April we didn't lose the chance to celebrate - almost 40 club members and parents got together for a slap up lunch at a local restaurant. Some of the money raised back in March, at our sponsored walk, was used to pay for the occasion and as you can see all had a good time. Time really flies; I can't believe our little club has already been running for 5 and a half years! Can't wait for the next 5!

NEW CLUB CAPTAINS

Rifqa and Rohan have duely been appointed EJC Club Captains for 2008/9. As you can see they are very happy with their new appointment!

Club Captain responsibilities include: orgaising social events for club members and helping younger members during the competition process.

I am sure that these two fine young fighters will do the club proud... Can't wait to hear about our first fun day!

SPONSORED WALK - MARCH 2008

On 24th March over thirty members of EJC took on a sponsored walk around Richmond Park to raise funds to be able to celebrate our 5th anniversary and to make a little money for the club. It was a snowy, rainy, windy, cold day, but the weather broke in perfect time to give us the hours we needed to complete the challenge. It was great fun to have members from all classes at the club joining in with one common goal. Thanks to everyone who came along and to those who couldn't make it, but donated sponsor money all the same.
